Between The Posts is always interested in adding exceptional football analysts to our team.

Our articles are not just traditional match reports. We reconstruct the tactical story of a game: explaining the lineups, structures, key adjustments and decisive moments in a clear, accessible style. Whether a reader watched the match or not, they should finish our article understanding why the game unfolded as it did.

We publish concise analyses that can be read in five to seven minutes. Writing clearly is just as important as tactical knowledge.

What we’re looking for

We are looking for writers who can consistently produce one tactical match analysis per week, covering one of the competitions we follow: Premier League, Bundesliga, LaLiga, Serie A, Ligue 1, Campeonato Brasileiro Série A, Argentina Primera Division, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, International football.

You do not need to cover every competition. Many of our writers specialise in a single league.

Before you apply

Writing for Between The Posts requires experience with tactical match analysis. A portfolio of published single-match tactical analysis articles is a mandatory requirement. If you cannot show previous examples of this type of work, we unfortunately won’t be able to consider your application.

When applying, please include:

• A short introduction about yourself.
• The competitions you follow most closely.
• Links to your published tactical match analyses (at least several recent examples).
• Any previous football writing or analytical experience.

Applications without a relevant tactical writing portfolio will not receive a response.

Our process

If your portfolio matches what we’re looking for, we’ll get in touch to discuss your availability and the competitions that best suit your expertise.

Selected applicants will then be invited to produce a trial article, to evaluate the fit with our specific writing style. Upon invitation, as a candidate writer you will write three articles for publication on our website. We will provide detailed editorial feedback and work closely with candidate writers to ensure their work matches the Between The Posts style. Only after successfully completing this candidate phase do writers join our regular team as a full writer.

Quality has always been more important to us than quantity, and we aim to maintain a consistent editorial standard across every article we publish.
