The exciting Club World Cup kicked off the knockout rounds last weekend, with the clash between Flamengo and Bayern Munich being one of the most anticipated. Filipe Luís’ side had already caused one of the tournament's biggest upsets as they hit Chelsea for three in the group stage second round. Vincent Kompany’s team, on the other hand, was on the opposite side of a shock result as they lost 1-0 to Benfica to concede the top spot in Group C. Thus, some understandably forecasted the potential early exit of one of the European heavy hitters of the tournament.

Luís rotated his team against Los Angeles with the aim of giving a few of the key players much-needed rest ahead of a tough contest. Thus, it was no surprise to see six changes to the lineup. In defense, Léo Pereira and Wesley returned instead of Danilo and Guillermo Varela. The double pivot was refreshed with Jorginho and Erick Pulgar preferred to Evertton Araujo and Allan. The frontline had two changes as Gonzalo Plata and Gerson featured.
