Liverpool – Brentford: Reds Close Out Season With Stalemate As Salah and Robertson Bid Farewell (1-1)
Liverpool drew 1-1 against Brentford at Anfield in what was Mo Salah and Andy Robertson’s final game for the club. A second-half goal by Curtis Jones was cancelled out by a goal by Kevin Schade shortly after, on the final match day of the 25/26 Premier League season as both sides shared the points.

This season has seen Liverpool descend from the heights of their Premier League triumph under Arne Slot last season in what was the Dutchman’s first season in charge. This campaign however didn’t go according to plan despite Liverpool’s 400m rebuild.
With Slot signing a flurry of players including high-profile names like Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Alexsandr Isak, Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez, to name a few, this season was supposed to be Liverpool strengthening their position as title defenders and challenging for the Premier League title. However, that bid to push for top honours quickly evaporated with inconsistent performances from the Reds through the course of the season.
In truth, Liverpool struggled to dominate games and be decisive in the final third while their defense, which wasn’t part of their summer spending plans, started to show cracks midway through the season.
The mood was poignant at Anfield as this was Mo Salah and Andy Robertson’s final game for the club. Salah hasn’t enjoyed his best season by any stretch of imagination after his surreal performances last season. And in many ways Liverpool were caught in limbo this season with their new signings failing to hit the ground running . . .
