Liverpool – Bournemouth: Reds Get Season Up & Running With Hard Fought Win Over Bournemouth (4-2)
Liverpool beat Bournemouth 4-2 at Anfield to start the new Premier League season by getting the three points. Goals from Hugo Ekitike and Cody Gakpo gave the Reds the lead in the game but Bournemouth equalised via a brace from Semenyo. However, late goals from Federico Chiesa and ultimately Mo Salah gave the Reds the vital three points on the opening day of the new league season.

The news of Jota and his brother Andre Silva dying in a car crash stunned the football world just a couple of months ago, so there would be moments of remembrance for the Portuguese striker and the club he called home in England.
Liverpool duly retired the number 20 jersey in honour of Jota and before the frantic game began, Anfield was in full song and later shed a few tears . . .
