Chelsea – Paris Saint-Germain: Parisians Finish The Job Against Blues At Stamford Bridge (0-3, 2-8 Agg)
PSG finished off any hopes of a Chelsea comeback by beating the Blues 3-0 at Stamford Bridge to qualify for the quarter finals of the Champions League. Goals from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Bradley Barcola and Senny Mayulu sank Chelsea at Stamford Bridge as PSG bossed the tie over two legs winning eventually 8-2 on aggregate.

There was a slim fighting chance Chelsea would go through against PSG in their return round of 16 Champions League second leg at Stamford Bridge. However, the crowd inside Stamford Bridge was perhaps buoyed with belief that the Blues could repeat their 2012 heroics, overturning a 2-0 deficit against Napoli at the Bridge itself.
But going into this game the deficit for the Blues was three goals. Nevertheless, any hopes of a Chelsea comeback were quickly dashed by PSG in the opening 15 minutes of the game as Khivcha Kvaratskhelia and Bradley Barcola powered finishes past Robert Sanchez in the Chelsea goal.
This loss over the two legs to PSG was perhaps further indication that the project under the new Chelsea owners does seem flawed. Despite social media backlash, in truth, the sheer margin by which Chelsea were defeated by PSG perhaps warrants a microscopic look at the Blueco regime’s youth project and their transfer policies.
Former Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca, who masterminded Chelsea’s Club World Cup final win over PSG, was also handed the sack when he asked for more experienced players to be signed by the Chelsea board, as per several reports. Maresca then fell out publicly with the club’s owners . . .
