Borussia Mönchengladbach – Borussia Dortmund: A Cagey Contest Ends in a Draw (1-1)

Two teams separated by just three points in the Bundesliga table faced each other in Mönchengladbach. The match had very few chances, with both sides converting a chance each whilst remaining defensively rigid, ending in a 1-1 deadlock.

Despite being only a few points away from each other, Borussia Mönchengladbach and Borussia Dortmund have had contrasting starts to the season. Under Gerardo Seoane, the Fohlen have shown signs of improvement from the 2023-24 campaign. Although they have not put together a consistent run of wins, struggling to register back-to-back three points in the Bundesliga so far, Mönchengladbach have accrued a decent points tally. They sit comfortably away from the relegation zone whilst being close enough to the rest to compete for a top-half finish.

On the other hand, the inconsistent Dortmund are yet to convince anyone that they are an outfit ready to compete at the very top of the table for the Meisterschale. Nuri Şahin’s side have performed excellently at home – winning six of their seven matches whilst drawing with Bayern Munich last week. However, their away record is abysmal, as Dortmund are yet to secure three points on the road.

Seoane made two alterations to the team that started against Freiburg, with Kevin Stöger and Nico Elvedi replacing Robin Hack and Marvin Friedrich. Şahin made just one change to the side that faced Bayern last weekend, as Niklas Süle returned to the line-up instead of Waldemar Anton at center-back.
