Fulham – Liverpool: Reed Wonder Strike Snatches Draw From The Brink Of Defeat Against Liverpool (2-2)

Fulham and Liverpool played out a 2-2 draw at Craven Cottage in a game that was far from straightforward. Florian Wirtz cancelled out Harry Wilson’s first half opener in the second half. Cody Gakpo would strike for Liverpool at the death but just when the Reds thought they had won the game, Harrison Reed’s thunderous long range effort hit the back of the net, earning Fulham a deserved draw as the points were shared on the night.

All is not well at Liverpool. It’s almost unbelievable to see how far the Reds have fallen behind this season compared to the way they ran away with the Premier League title last season. Liverpool’s new summer signings were meant to enhance the project at Anfield and transform Liverpool into a more dominant force both domestically and in Europe.

However, it hasn’t panned out that way. Arne Slot has had selection dilemmas and has had to contend with his new summer recruits severely underperforming. Going into this game Liverpool were without both their star striker signings Hugo Ekitike and Alexander Isak, which meant Cody Gakpo started as the central striker.

With Mo Salah currently away at the AFCON, Liverpool’s big money signing Florian Wirtz was given a clear go-ahead to start in the Liverpool attack. Wirtz has started his Liverpool career abysmally, with many arguing that he simply hasn’t adapted to the Premier League & its physicality.
