Sunderland’s season soared to new heights on the weekend as they overturned a 2-0 deficit to take three points in for the first time in their Premier League history, beating Bournemouth. The side sat in sixth spot in the standings before kickoff, having also defeated Chelsea 2-1 at Stamford Bridge and drawn 2-2 against league leaders Arsenal. Even though their firm foundation has been an unbeaten record at the Stadium of Light, optimism was high on this trip against the faltering favorites.
Liverpool landed their marquee men in the summer window and seemed set to fight for consecutive campaigns of Premier League glory. However, the high of six wins from their first six fixtures in all competitions is now a distant memory. The team then suffered six defeats in a run of seven Premier League matches, and have endured back to back three goal losses at Anfield against Nottingham Forest and PSV Eindhoven.
