Liverpool – Tottenham Hotspur: Spurs Salvage Draw At Anfield In Battle Of Underperformers (1-1)
Tottenham Hotspur drew 1-1 with Liverpool at Anfield in a tightly contested affair. A free-kick from Dominik Szoboszlai gave the Reds a first-half lead but Spurs, who kept knocking on the door, finally equalised through Richarlison in the dying embers of normal time. The draw meant Spurs moved one point clear of the relegation zone while Liverpool missed a chance to move into the top four, moving to 5th in the Premier League table.

Liverpool and Spurs have had two contrasting seasons when it comes to their table positions but both clubs have severely underwhelmed and underperformed this campaign.
Liverpool’s rebuild hasn’t gone according to plan, with Arne Slot’s 400 million splurge of signings failing to improve on the Reds’ title win last season. This season has seen Liverpool languish in the table, chasing the top four with Champions League qualification being their only target in what remains of the season.
Meanwhile, for Spurs Thomas Frank’s tenure ended with Spur drastically falling behind their closest rivals and much of the Premier League pack. Igor Tudor has come in replacing Frank, but results have not gone according to plan and Spurs find themselves just hovering above the relegation zone with relegation to the Championship a serious reality if they don’t get the results in their remaining games this season.
So this game then was a clash of two serial underperforming sides this season and it played out to result in a 1-1 draw. Liverpool took the lead early on via a Dominik Szoboszlai free-kick . . .
