Atletico Madrid and Celta Vigo engaged in a captivating tactical contest at the Estadio de Balaídos, with each half presenting different dynamics. Despite the game's back-and-forth nature and chances for both sides, finishing touches were lacking until the dying moments. Looking at Atleti from the outside in, there seems to be a lot going on in terms of Diego Simeone’s rebuild. Having spent the money in the transfer window, the weight of expectations hangs heavy on the shoulders of the Atleti manager who has served the club so gallantly over the course of his tenure. But this new iteration & latest version of Atleti under Simeone hasn’t gelled as expected, and are rather evidently a work in progress. 

Perhaps this side is yet to find its cohesion on the pitch given the flurry of summer arrivals, especially the likes of Gallagher joining on the final day of the window. It seemingly looks as though Simeone is yet to get the best out of his players and find his best eleven on the pitch. Being defensively resolute is a hallmark of Simeone’s tactics but Atletico this season seem less resolute defensively than before while their attack isn’t as free-flowing as most would expect. 

The only arrival in defense was Le Normand while Simeone aimed to address his side’s problems higher . . .
