Unión de Santa Fe stood firm to withstand pressure from CA Boca Juniors early on. Their early goal gave them a platform to push for more and exploit the spaces Boca left in transition. Leonardo Madelón, Unión’s manager, has kept his side unbeaten in the last six games of the Apertura. They had three wins in their last five games, but they looked to bounce back into winning ways following a thrilling 4-4 draw against Independiente last time out. With the most goals scored in the league, their attacking unit looked set to continue their impressive scoring run.
Madelón continued with his recent 4-4-2 setup for Unión. Matías Mansilla stayed in goal with the backline of Lautaro Vargas as the right back, Maizon Rodríguez and Juan Pablo Ludueña as the center backs, and Mateo Del Blanco as the left back.
