Juventus – Manchester City: More vulnerable than ever (2-0)

Guardiola's side had the ball, as almost always, but showed a fragile mentality like never before. At the same time, Juventus struck gold at home. Two sides of the same coin. Whilst Thiago Motta’s Juventus secured a Champions League victory after three matches, Pep’s side continues to sink. Both teams had contrasting approaches, but one was notably weaker at key moments in the game: one was comfortable defending in tight spaces, whilst the other struggled when the opponent exploits space.

After four consecutive draws in both Serie A and the Champions League, Juventus made four changes compared to their previous 2-2 draw against Bologna. Michele Di Gregorio replaced Mattia Perin in goal; in the defensive line, Andrea Cambiaso was out due to injury, with Nicolò Savora coming in as the right-back; Khéphren Thuram partnered with Manuel Locatelli in midfield, replacing Nicolò Fagioli, and Kenan Yildiz took the left wing spot in place of Timothy Weah. All this in Thiago Motta’s classic 4-2-3-1 formation.

For his part, Pep Guardiola made changes once again, after another draw in the Premier League, extending his team's poor form across all competitions. Jack Grealish returned to the midfield, and the wings were revamped, with Bernardo Silva moving to the right and Jérémy Doku coming in on the left. Ederson returned to the starting lineup in goal after three matches on the bench.
