Tottenham Hotspur had slightly more possession here, but Liverpool’s dynamic right-sided attack was the decisive factor in this match. The home side’s compact defending set them up to help exploit transition situations, while it took Spurs until late in the game to find cohesion in attack.

Liverpool’s season has gone into something of a tailspin in recent weeks, as they saw themselves knocked out of domestic and European cups, plus falling away from the title race. Things have not been much better for Spurs of late, as they arrived into this match on a three game losing streak, including a North London Derby.

Jürgen Klopp lined his side up in a 4-3-3 shape here, with a back four of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jarell Quansah, Virgil van Dijk, and Andrew Robertson. Wataru Endō was the deepest midfielder, with Harvey Elliot and Alexis Mac Allister alongside him. Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo, and Luis Díaz then made up the front three.
