Atlético Madrid – Villareal: Rojiblancos Are Winless For The Second Game In A Row (1-1)

Atlético Madrid went adrift in second place in the league after a draw against the submarines. A pale first half and a lack of efficiency in the second saw Rojiblancos winless for the second game in a row. Diego Simeone's men kept making things easy for their cross-rivals in LaLiga and giving the Catalans the chance to reduce the difference.

After another show of dark arts, Atlético Madrid jumped high to secure a place among the top eights in the UEFA Champions League. A long spell of parking the bus and playing down to ten men for approximately three-quarters of the game handed the team the win over Bayer Leverkusen in the last moments of the clash.

Diego Simeone replaced half of the players who started the game in the European clash. Nahuel Molina was the only cog who kept his place in the defense, whereas Axel Witsel, Robin Le Normand, and Reinildo Mandava sat across the rest of a back four. Pablo Barrios joined Koke in the pivot, whilst Conor Gallagher and Giuliano Simeone completed Atlético Madrid's second line. Julián Alvarez and Ángel Correa were the offensive forces.

Marcelino played Kiko Femenía on the right, and Sergio Cardona filled the left-back . . .
