Bayern Munich – VfB Stuttgart: Kane And Co Score Four To Overpower Stuttgart (4-0)

A second half Harry Kane hat-trick and late Kingsley Coman strike helped Bayern return to winning ways. With the two teams tied at half-time, Stuttgart squandered an early chance to take the lead after the interval and were soon made to pay when a quick-fire double put them two goals behind by the hour-mark. With the visitors running out of steam as the game progressed, the hosts overpowered their opponents to get back on track after three games without a victory.

The Bundesliga returned after the October international break with a headline fixture at the Allianz Arena. The current joint league leaders Bayern Munich played host to last season’s surprise runners-up VfB Stuttgart who had made an indifferent start to the new campaign.

Bayern were victorious in their opening six games across all competitions but have failed to win in their last three outings. A Champions League defeat sandwiched two domestic score draws but Head Coach Vincent Kompany was undeterred in his pre-match press conference. Positively stating: “We were dominant, had many more chances than the opposition. The question that’s always important is how often we’d win if we played the game 10 times.” 

As such, the home side were unchanged from the one which started the 3-3 draw against Eintracht Frankfurt. Manuel Neuer played behind Raphaël Guerreiro, Dayot Upamecano, Kim Min-jae and Alphonso Davies. Joshua Kimmich and Aleksandar Pavlovic anchored the midfield with Michael Olise, Serge Gnabry, Thomas Müller and Harry Kane the attacking quartet.
