SC Freiburg – RasenBallsport Leipzig: Leipzig Do The Double At Europa-Park (0-1)

Just a few days after their one-sided cup semifinal meeting, Freiburg and Leipzig went at it again at the Europa-Park Stadion. This time, they were playing a league fixture - and a crucial one at that as they started fourth and fifth with only a couple of points separating them. This match was a lot closer than the previous one, but the final result was the same again.

Whilst Leipzig would have been glad to have advanced to another DFB Pokal final, they could not afford to rest on their laurels. Champions League qualification is becoming a basic expectation for them now, so this too was a must-win match for them. Freiburg were never going to give anything away easily, though, as they sought to avenge their midweek humiliation and take another step towards a debut on Europe's biggest stage.

Freiburg lined up in a 4-4-2 formation once again, but did make a few changes in terms of personnel. Mark Flekken remained in goal with Lukas Kübler starting in the back line alongside Matthias Ginter, Manuel Gulde and Christian Günter. Nicolas Höfler and Maximilian Eggestien started in central midfield again with Noah Weißhaupt and Vincenzo Grifo coming in to freshen up the wings, whilst Lucas Höler joined Michel Gregoritsch up top again.
