Group B of the Club World Cup was decided by Luis Enrique’s side climbing to the top spot. A victory to regain momentum, and a dignified defeat for the home team.

Paris Saint-Germain were looking to secure first place in Group B of the Club World Cup. After a 1-0 loss to Botafogo in the clash between continental champions, Luis Enrique’s side aimed to get back on track in both results and performance. To achieve their objective, they needed to win and hope the Brazilian side didn’t defeat Atlético de Madrid.

To make this happen, the Spanish manager brought back several key players to his starting lineup. Captain Marquinhos returned to partner William Pacho in central defense, whilst Nuno Mendes was back at left back, replacing Lucas Hernández. Vitinha was the only midfielder to retain his spot, sitting slightly deeper behind the interiors Fabián Ruiz and João Neves. On the wings were once again Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Désiré Doué, whilst Senny Mayulu remained in the starting eleven, this time playing as a center forward.

On the other side, Seattle Sounders—already eliminated—sought to exit the tournament with pride by delivering a strong performance against the European champions. The Americans lined up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, which shifted into a 4-4-2 setup when out of possession.
