Ange Postecoglou was left relieved after his Spurs side edged out Ruben Amorim’s resurgent Manchester United at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium in the Carabao Cup. Six goals in the second half after Spurs took a 1-0 lead in the first half made this game an entertaining affair, with plenty of goalmouth action. However, Postecoglou’s Spurs held on to advance to the semi-finals of the EFL Cup.

On a cold night in London under the lights that merged with the thick blanket of cold air trapped inside the Tottenham Hotspur stadium, Ange Postecoglou could be seen wandering patiently & pensively urging his side on as his counterpart in the other dugout Ruben Amorim, was captured on camera offering what looked like a small prayer after Spurs took the lead.
This was a game that typified aggressiveness & two managers unafraid to impart their swashbuckling approach while deploying their sides against each other. In many ways it was the quintessential cup tie of the month of December for both sets of fans with the Boxing Day round of fixtures just a week away.
Amorim’s Manchester United came into this cup game on the back of a definitive comeback win against their crosstown rivals Manchester City, coming back from the dead to beat Pep Guardiola’s floundering City side 2-1 to compound the Catalan manager’s current problems.
