Villarreal and Athletic Club played out a goalless draw at the Estadi del a Ceramica. A late red card for Pape Gueye meant Villarreal finished the game with ten men. There were chances & half chances at both ends & Villarreal also had a goal by Thierno Barry disallowed by VAR, but in the end the game ended in a stalemate with both sides sharing the points.

On a sunny night at the Estadi del a Cermaica, two clubs who are locked firmly in a bullfight for a top four finish lined up under the lights, as the crowd inside the stadium waved their scarves in the air in unison.
It's fair to say that both these clubs see eye to eye. This then, was a battle of two resurgent sides in LaLiga if not the underdogs to the LaLiga throne. This was a pivotal game in the race for top four in LaLiga with it posing as a tricky away fixture for Athletic Club away at the Ceramica against the revitalised Yellow Submarine of Villarreal.
Both Athletic Club & Villarreal find themselves battling for a UEFA Champions League spot with Bilbao in fourth and Villarreal in fifth with just six points separating them in the LaLiga table. However, Villarreal do have a game in hand.
