Coming off a victory against Newcastle, West Ham United aimed to secure its second consecutive Premier League win for the first time this season. Without a key player like Mohammed Kudus on the left wing, Julen Lopetegui opted to field the same lineup that triumphed at St. James' Park. This included Lucas Paquetá in a double pivot alongside Tomáš Souček, with Carlos Soler positioned slightly ahead. On the wings, Crysencio Summerville took the left flank and Jarrod Bowen the right, whilst Michail Antonio played as the lone striker.

Mikel Arteta's team came into the match having scored eight goals in their last two games, aiming to maintain their positive momentum and close the gap to six points behind league leaders Liverpool (who play Manchester City this same weekend).

Only two changes for Arsenal compared to their Champions League victory in Portugal against Sporting Lisbon: Jorginho replaced Thomas Partey, who suffered a muscle issue, and Leandro Trossard was brought in on the left wing in place of Gabriel Martinelli as a tactical decision.
