Juventus – Internazionale: Juventus’ Title Hopes Suffer A Potentially Permanent Dent (0-1)

Few title races are more exciting than this season’s Serie A. On one of the potentially decisive days in this race, defending champions Internazionale visited Juventus just hours after Napoli’s win over Atalanta. The two sides were separated by just a point going into the match, though Inter had played one fewer match. League-leaders Milan would also have been watching closely, hoping to get a chance to widen the gap to their local rivals. That was not the case though, as Inter came away with all three points after a tense match.

After a very poor start to the season, Juventus’ league campaign seemed to be getting back on track as they had won each of their last five matches and were undefeated since last November in the league, a run which brought them to within a point of Inter. Their troubles did continue elsewhere though, with Inter defeating them in the Supercopa final in January, and Villarreal dumping them out of the Champions League Round of Sixteen just before the international break. The one positive to take from all that was the fact that they could now solely focus on the league, and perhaps mount a late title charge.
